There's this, getting old, thread from Video-Cellar that says Spider Baby is not PD.

I ran across this today, which may enlarge the discussion, or not?;Headline=Interview%3A%20Jack%20Hill

From what the movie's director, Jack Hill, says in the interview, I believe the movie was PD. I got hold of a 1999 Image Entertainment DVD of it, and couldn't find a copyright notice. Of course, that copy isn't PD, but the fact there was no notice in it tends to confirms that the movie was PD. Hill did file a copyright notice at USCO for his release, which means to me that he's prepared to sue big time for unauthorized use.

This was about my conclusion, if I read you right. The crappy version remains PD, Jack's new version is his own?

If this is true, I wonder if the audio of the PD one could be improved by a contributor here. I haven't watched it through myself yet, but the bad audio seems always mentioned.

That's a good interview. He says he made a new video out of the original negative, so the "new matter" must be pretty minimal. If somebody really wanted a good print, the best way would be to download the PD version, buy the new CD, then compare them and cut out anything that's not in the PD version.

Does anybody know anything about the Swinging Cheerleaders? I seem to recall that there are a few of those cheerleader movies from the early 70s. Any of them PD?
